Ducks, ostriches, chimpanzees, snakes and big cats appear across the double page spreads as the young narrator takes us on a visit to the zoo. She discovers the animals, marvels at them, is sometimes scared, but keeps going. She acquaints herself this unfamiliar universe and returns home. There are no cages in this book and the boundaries between wild and domestic animals become blurred.
