Freedom

Liberté, by Paul Eluard and 15 illustrators

A special edition of Paul Eluard’s famous poem, published clandestinely in 1942 and now a world literature classic. All the verses unfold on the pages of this book, illustrated by 15 leading artists. Although the poem is historically rooted in the spirit of the Resistance against Nazism, the yearning for freedom it encapsulates is universal. At the end of the book, historical details and a rich iconography put the poem and its author in context.
