Charlie et Basile, by Clarisse Lochmann

It’s going to be a very nice day on the beach! All the animals are already there when young badgers Basile and Charlie arrive. As the story unfolds, you can tell that Basile has decided to imitate everything that Charlie says and does. Around them the turtles organise a diving contest, a lifeguard giraffe helps a young seal, bunnies play ball, and Basile still focuses on his game. Charlie tries to deceive him. He even promises a paw massage but nothing works until the tender declaration at the end. While the two little badgers play their game, copying words and behaviours, life on the beach goes on.
