There Is

Il y a, by Guillaume Apollinaire and Laurent Corvaisier

The great French poet Guillaume Apollinaire died in 1918 in World War I. His poem, “There Is”, which he wrote while at the front, is an ode to love and peace. 2014 will be the centennial of the start of World War I. This essential text is magnified by Laurent Corvaisier paintings. In this poem Apollinaire tells about this time of war, breaking bodies and wounding souls. He mixes the horror of the front line with his love story and dreamed happiness, helping him to cope with the inhumanity of the soldier daily life.
The strong images of Laurent Corvaisier who let his talent as a painter free, come with period photographs
